Visit the tranquil Island located in Port Blair. This is a serene sight and and shows the Indian Freedom Struggle. In the British Colonial Rule time Britisher made this place a jail for the Indian Political Prisoners.
As the Britishers felt that they required big jail to keep more prisoners they left this place and constructed new jail named The Cellular Jail. It is a Two storied building made with red bricks. Now it is completely ruined. This Jail built in 1867.
This island is around 23KM from the Port Blair main city. At 5.30 PM except Wednesday you can also see the light and sound show which tells you the story of this island in detail.
This is the best island for the day picnic and give you historical experience that how our freedom fighters were tortured by the britishers.
